I'm working on a radio cabinet that has a two-toned finish. There is a darker trim that is now the same color as the rest of the cabinet, after stripping.
Can I stain it with a dark stain and then apply lacquer ? Or, is there a better way to darken the trim piece ?
Thanks

Do the sealer as the rest of the cabinet, then use opaque lacquer toner on the gum wood or other area not to have a clear finish. Mask off the area not to be toned if you like a hard line. For a transitional look use a transparent toner over the opaque toner after removing the mask and feather spray into the the clear finish. This technique is useful when veneer has been patched and patches are not matching...
