I have a Hickok TV-3C/U that's missing its roll chart (hardware is still there). I do have a book with the test data so I can use the tester, yet I don't like seeing a blank window where the chart should be. So I've decided that I'd have one made with the data setup that's found online in pdf form. My question is that I'm wondering if anyone has done this before. I'd like to know what Hickok used for roll paper and in absence of that info I figured that player piano roll paper (available from QRS) would probably do the trick. It would have to be cut to the right width and I'd have to find a printing company that could print a pdf file onto a page about 15-20' long. Anyone have any ideas? ...............Mike

As for QRS or any other brand of player-roll paper, paper quality & thickness changes dramatically from batch to batch, so you may want to get a sample first. There are also a few other player roll companies such as Keystone in PA and Playrite in Modesto CA who traditionally use a higher quality paper, in my opinion. Kinko's copy centers may have continuous roll paper ready to go....you could check with them.

Also, have you spent a few months checking Ebay in case the correct roller chart appears for auction or BIN? I've found some unusual charts there over the years.

Thanks Fred for the info on other paper companies. I'll definitely check them out. Getting samples is a good idea too and at least worth asking for. I'm not sure about Kinkos but we have one here so I can check it out. The local printing/copy center I usually go to here is well equiped in just about any phase of printing there is but they gave a blank stare when I asked them about roll paper. In fact, they even asked me if I had tried Kinkos! What I am going to do is remove the roll chart from my Hickok 539B and measure the paper thickness with a micrometer. That would be a good starting point for comparison.

I have been looking on eBay for about a month or so to try to find the chart and will keep on looking for it, even if I build a new one. The unique think about the TV-3 series is that Nolan Lee did so much work to update its chart and he's posted the info online for anyone to use. After I find the paper the real challenge will be to find a printer who will print it out on a long paper roll. Someone did it for Hickok so they're out there somewhere. Thanks for the suggestions. ............Mike.
