Here is the wording of an ad from Radio & Television News, November 1956, by Terminal Radio Corp. in NYC:<P>"Type 600 Sylvania Laboratory Tube Tester. Mutual conductance and emission test. Conversion transconductance test. Leakage test directly in megohms, gas test, and voltage regulator-thyratron tube test. Factory correlated readings, illuminated meter, roller chart. Regular price: $469.50 Now only $369.50"<P>Anyone ever seen one of these tube testers?<P>------------------<BR>

I'll be doggoned. I knew about the 620 shown in that ad, but never heard of the 600. Terminal (named after the ferry terminal) was one of the Radio Row dealers, but doesn't seem to have advertised again in the next six months. Must have bought Sylvania's excess stock of test gear.<P>------------------<BR>

Yes, Terminal seems to have been having a big sale on Sylvania test equipment. The 600 must have come out before 1956 then. I knew the model was not listed in Alan's book and wondered if anyone knew anything about it - just curious, you know.<P>------------------<BR>

Old post, I know.
One of these has been my main tube tester since the late 60's

Cheers

I have the roll chart out separately since one of the friction drives slip too much. Need to fix that some day. I also have all of the manuals and a book of addendum sheets.

Thanks Russ for re-upping post & showing a photo!
I never knew these "Lab models" existed either, would love to find another as I wind up using my Sylvania 219
more than any other tester I have.
Did you buy yours originally as a surplus discount item as mentioned by previous post from a distributor like Terminal radio?
I'll have to keep an eye out for one of these!
Cheers
Kent

Kent,

mine was given to me (in other words, disposed of) by a very large computer manufacturer in the 60's. I've never
seen another, but then again, I haven't looked. If I'm troubleshooting I normally use my little EMC 213 since this thing requires
so much lever flipping and knob twiddling. Works well tho and tests some oddball tubes.

Cheers,
Russ
