I just discovered this different product and was wondering if anyone here has tried a resistive soldering tool and what they thought.

I also noticed they make a very small solder pot 100 watts which is 1" in diameter and holds approximately 2.5 ounces.

Wow that tweezer style resistance soldering tool for $640. is slick.

I wonder how hard a gizmo used with a Weller soldering gun to accomplish
the same effect would be to put together ?

I think those prices are retail. A quick shop on Amazon found better pricing. This may be a better solution for PC boards which I do see with some regularity though in the field it can be a problem to take this type of soldering station on the job.

I've done resistance soldering with the American Beauty. The system works well when used on connectors, wire stripping including Teflon and certain mechanical soldering. It is difficult to manage on PC boards as the current can take an alternate path through a device or smoke a trace. The instrument shown can handle a number of different heads including two wire strippers, carbon probes and hot wires. The wattage is achieved via very low voltage and high current.
