Tenma is an MCM electronics house brand. MCM is owned by Premier Farnell, the same company that owns Newark electronics.

You might contact them and see if they have info available.

The manual is 450 KB so it is too large to attach.

Here is a direct link to the manual: http://whites.sdsmt.edu/classes/ee320/l ... manual.pdf

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I don't know anything about your DMM and I don't want to detract from it but these days it's very often more economical in money and time to simply buy a new one. I just replaced my trusty DMM with a new one after frying the resistance mode with a kilovolt; the damage done by that blast of voltage would have been to widespread to justify repair.

It's a brand name 4.5 digit, true RMS, bench model only 10 years old. Not something one disposes of without trying to get it working.

The closest matching 4.5-digit bench multimeter currently available from Tenma is $300.90. That ain't pocket change in my neighborhood. We're not talking about some $35 meter from radio shack.

Closest new model available: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/T ... 0-/72-1020

$300 for a "house" meter - ouch! There are dozens of used, working Fluke/HP/Keithley benchtop DMMs on ebay and similar auctions selling for 1/3rd that price..... and those brands hold spec. longer also. To me, that name "TENMA" just rings like a jingle bell on a cat's collar. Go with one of the three brands I mentioned and your's will perform like a 1-ton bell in the Nortre Dame bell tower!

The problem with Tenma is the instruction manuals are easy to find, but service data isn't. So if the item has issues and provided the problem isn't obvious, the solution can end up being as simple as the nearest trash can.
