Unless you are breaking the glass envelopes and licking the grids and what not, don't sweat it. Right now you are probably breathing in more radon gas than the miniscule exposure from a room full of static vacuum tubes! If they aren't powered up and generating electromagnetic radiation of some sort, it's not an issue. Again, plenty more questionable dangers have crossed your path.... like some food dyes, leached chemicals into food & water, and then there's the cheeseburger and fries that fell on the diner floor that got put back onto your plate and then cheerfully served to you.

+1

A voice of reason in the crowd.

having just had double bypass heart surgery a few months ago I suspect my health would be better if my past life had include more vacuum tubes and fewer cheeseburgers.

I got a 3DS3 (I think it's called) here that insists that one should wash their hands after handling.

Cut/pasted from: http://www.radiomuseum.org/tubes/tube_er21a.html

I know this informations.
But for sure he have tested that in directly contact to the tube glas,
means do not eat a ER21A !

In distance of 10 inches the counter cannot find anything.
About this fact my opinion: not dangerous

greetings
Martin

Grind on that stuff, create dust and breath it in, you are toast LUNG CANCER NOW

Lung cancer is the least of your worries if you are those who are genetically predisposed to developing chronic beryllium disease. Basically, you have to avoid particles smaller than .0003" These are the ones which get trapped in your lungs never to be expelled. From that point the body sets up a very nasty immune response in certain individuals. Golfers should never buff their golf clubs for this very reason. Many heads contain beryllium.

Here is info on 3DS3, mentioned above. Washing hands is a good idea since this tube has heavy lead shielding to protect against X-rays
