I have a Triplett 3414 tube tester. The other day I was testing some tubes. The radio I'm working on has two 12SK7's, 1 Amperex, and 1 RCA. The Amperex tested kind of low, but good at the required settings, but the RCA tested at the same settings... well, when I checked for shorts it was okay and it had filament continuity, but the load went clear to the end of the meter and only by turning down the load from 17 to 12 did it come back down into readable range. No shorts, good filament... What's going on?

Grid emissions?

No matter what, I'd consider the tube bad.....

Also tested for leakage clear up to 3 meg. It wasn't leaking at that scale.

You're right. I just bought two, RCA JAN 12SK7 from ebay/w free shipping. $13.00. Why risk trying to make something work, or hope that it will be okay when I can just get new for cheap.
