Ref 6526
Part 523471-1
Model 604.06.03

Hi everyone, I am having issues with the tone arm on this beauty. It appears to be pushed upwards and does not come down on the turntable. I was wondering if someone had access to a repair manual or any suggestions to fix this issue. I am a novice and hoping to help my dad get this unit working again. I have already spent an excessive amount of time cleaning the interior and exterior of this unit to help get acquainted with the components. I appreciate the help.

Not a whole helluva lot to go on there.
Have you searched for a nice reputable servicer in your area?

Sounds to me like the pushy rod thingy that rides on the cycling cam and pushes up the tone arm when it cycles is stuck. "Prolly" a squirt of WD-40 would do it a world of good. I have actually got one where this rod was completely missing. Takes an act of God to get it out. Go figure. In lieu of the above, a phone call to West-Tech Services or Gary at VM would be the next step if it were my stereo. RT is right. The services of a professional is what you need. It would be fair to warn you that you are going to spend between 150 and 200 bucks on a five dollar stereo............GREG

Thank you for the advice. I was able to solve the problem myself.
