Now imagine the amazing tube sound in full STEREO!

The lush richness of trumpets and violins on the left.....!
The deep thump of kettle drums and bass guitar on the right....!

And....... Patsy Cline wailing in the middle!

Oh my!

I must say, my stereo 1960 RCA PS-16 really blows away my mono 1957 SHF-2 (same amp as Larry's 6-HF-1). Both sound great, but they are not even in the same class, IMO.

Problem is, I'm out of white Mallory .1 caps. Got to place another caps order.
Larry, are those the 150 M series caps???

Yes, and they are outstanding caps. I just ordered another $30 worth of them earlier this morning.

Patsy Cline? You've got to be kidding me. If you want to hear an LP that'll rattle the floor joists, shake and rattle the windows, shatter crystal if it's too close to the set... then pick up a copy of this 1989 LP by Tone Loc, "Funky Cold Medina."

Image

I just got my copy of this LP in this morning, factory sealed, and I mean to tell you... there is plenty of bass with the bass control on the RCA Mark I turned all the way off!!!! The fidelity and bass, of this LP is simply mind-boggling. There is only two songs per side of the 12-inch LP, and the grooves fill up the entire side but the grooves are quite a ways apart. I've never seen an LP cut like this before, but it allows for supernatural bass without the needle jumping out of the groove. Here are the track listings:

A1 Funky Cold Medina (Vocal) 4:11
A2 Funky Cold Medina (Funky Beats) 2:46
B1 Funky Cold Medina (Instrumental) 4:08
B2 Funky Cold Medina (Funky Acappella) 1:18

You may like your PS-16 better because of the dedicated subwoofer that set has.

Sounds pretty potent for sure. I wouldn't care for windows breaking!

Give me music that's actually played with musical instruments.

I'll second that. It's amazing how rich and low a double bass can sound. It actually has more than one string on it to play many different notes, not just the same one over and over and...zzzzzz...

Everybody has a different taste in music. I prefer 60s, 70s and 80s rock and pop over anything else. I honestly can't stand big band and orchestra music. I didn't like it when I was a kid, and I still don't. I like some country too... but not the early Patsy Cline and Hank Williams stuff.

My idea of good instrumental music is The Ventures or Duane Eddy.

Yep...everybody does have different taste in music, that is what makes us beautiful. When I was a teenager in the '90s, "Going back to Cali" was the song that most of my friends would play in their cars to check out their new, ridiculous stereo system that just rattled the bolts of the car loose! roflmao

My taste in music is very diverse. Very. Most people don't understand me...and the majority make fun of me when I am listening to Gordon Lightfoot, Steely Dan, Frank Sinatra, John Denver, or even Howlin' Wolf at my desk at work. For me, it is whatever makes me feel good. Whether it be Classical, Opera, Pop, Hip Hop, Swing, Lounge...etc. I have to feel the music inside of me....my favorite song in the entire world is Gymnopedies #1 by Erik Satie. Gives me chills and warms me up inside. I sleep to it on repeat every night.

My music tastes are diverse too i like Gene Krupa, Count Basie, Bert Kaempfert, i like 1950s,1960s, 1970s and 1980s plus i have a soft spot for Britney Spears which brings me into
modern music.
I get laughed at by the wife for my old music as she calls it but i dont care, its how i am and i love my music.
BTW your RCA looks amazing. :)

I bought a second Akai reel to reel deck last night on the auction site for $49. It's an Akai X200-D with three-heads, auto-reverse, and will play mono and stereo tapes. It also has a hinged wooden front cover and its original box! The seller says everything works great. I'm going to use this one specifically for the RCA Victor Mark I. (I'll leave the other Akai hooked up to my Pioneer stereo system.....) :D

Akai made good quality products. That looks very clean and well cared for, good score.
I need to get a nice reel to reel deck, i just have a mono Korting (Schneider) reel to reel from 1961, it works well but stereo would be nice.

They are fantastic machines!! They run so quietly you don't even realize the machine is turned on.

Just this weekend I got foil sensing tape applied to all my stereo reel to reel tapes so they will all auto-reverse. I really love that feature. You never have to turn the tape over to play the second side. You just put a tape on and just let it play... after it finishes playing side 2, it's been rewound and is ready to put back in the box. Wonderful feature!!!

I got my white Mallory caps order today from AES. I opened up the Magnecord amp last night and spotted a yellow cap that is literally coming apart, and it's off the 12AX7 tube. That cap may be my distortion problem in the old antiquated reel to reel.
