I have a GE LC-628 I've been restoring. I saw one for sale recently on ebay but it had a different tonearm on it. The one that's in mine now tends to fall off the stand really easy and gets caught on the lid. Can anyone tell me which one is the right one? The top one is mine and the bottom is from the auction. Also, is there supposed to be a rubber grommet or something attached to the top of the armrest? Thanks!

I believe this is a pre-WWII set, and the tonearm design in the 2nd picture was very popular then. The arm on yours looks more modern, I'd guess it was changed-out at one time to lighten the tracking force.

I agree. Bottom photo looks more correct. The top one looks like something from the late '40's-early '50's. Back then, one could buy a "universal" replacement tonearm that contained the cartridge. These were a popular choice when the original cartridge failed and could not easily be replaced or, in the case of plastic tonearms, the original tonearm was broken. Finding the correct tonearm should not be too hard, since it was used on a ton of different models from the late '30's-early '40's.

Here is one for ten bucks that may work:
