I'd like to get a phonograph to sit on top- as this radio has the "Radio/Phonograph" switch on rear of chassis - as a gift for it's owner. Same circa, etc.. Did Montgomery Ward (Airline) make such a unit? ("Wells Gardner" ?)
Thanks, Michael

I'm not familiar with this model, but from what I can see, there doesn't appear to room for much of anything on top.
Wellll...It's top is 8 3/8" at it's narrowist (center) point. What was the typical setup/positioning for One's phonograph (turntable) in 1941, using the console radio as it's amp?
Thanks.

How about an Rca Victor 45 j 2? Thats whats i put on top of mine. Plays only 45's but it is a very reliable changer when restored correctly. Garrard made a small 3 speed record changer. Ill have to get back to you on the model number

You might want something that is contemporary to the radio like the Philco 42-RP-1. This model has a built-in transmitter that can be used with any radio. The cabinet measures 10" front-to-back but the distance between the front and back feet is only 8". Keep in mind that the general public only had 78's back then.

Ooooh...that's neat....but as a gift, I suspect the owner would only want to play 45's
