Yes, the troublemaker says with certainty that Emerson indeed made consoles up into the 70's. Matter of fact I sold a late-60's console with a Garrard changer in it a few years ago.

Brian McAllister wrote: No, Emerson NEVER made a console Is this really necessary? What does it accomplish? In the original question, it's clear the poster didn't know for sure and even though he was told that they didn't, it's clear that he wasn't completely satisfied with that answer. He asks you guys for advice and this is what he gets. This is also twenty years earlier than what he is talking about. I think some of us really need to quit showing everybody how smart we are.

I apologise i should have worded my question better. As i said i have a Canadian Emerson console, when i originally asked about them the reply was " I didnt know Emerson made consoles" obviously the person who answered my question didnt know. Also forgive me being an idiot but it seems Emerson are not as common, all the time ive been here nobody has mentioned finding an Emerson, they mention RCA, Zenith and Magnavox, i was just interested because i now have radios and consoles by what i consider the big four, Zenith,Rca,Magnavox and Emerson. Thankyou Gregg, i apreciate your answer, i agree there is too much of "i know everything" in peoples answers. I know a lot of people here dont have time for "Solid State Consoles" i apologise but thats my thing, im fascinated by early transistors and ics and i enjoy keeping them running, i do own tube gear but transistor is my main interest. I try to help where i can, im first to admit i dont know much, i learn a lot about circuits and the mechanical side of things from asking you guys questions, i realise i asked a dumb question about Emerson and i apologise. But i dont think i deserved the snide remarks like im stupid, ive never said any of you guys where stupid in fact i have a lot of respect for you, you are older than me and have more experience. Maybe im in the wrong forum?

Quit apologizing OMM. You didn't do anything wrong. Your learning and you asked a question. We've all asked "dumb" questions from time to time. We've also been given bad information by well meaning but not well informed people. I've been guilty of giving bad advice and wrong information in the past as well as some others, I'm sure. In my little mind, the only dumb question is the one you DIDN'T ask. The wealth of knowledge here is probably better than anywhere else you can find. We all just need to remember to treat people right. Snarky, smartass responses really have no place (except maybe the clubhouse or the on line section...... ) SS consoles are one of the new items starting to become popular. You do not have to answer for what you like to collect. Your probably way ahead of the curve and someday people will be coming to you for advice. I think this would be the best forum for this topic. Rant over, back to your regularily scheduled program.

oldmusicman,
My comment was not aimed at you, who asked a perfectly reasonable and rational question. It was rather aimed at the person who, admittedly had no information but still asserted to you that Emerson did not make consoles. You were rightly skeptical. I scanned and posted that catalog page to show proof that Emerson had a history of manufacturing consoles well before yours was made.
On another subject, while I may consider a certain manufacturer, or product, to be inferior, it does not follow that I disparage someone who may collect such items. I collect some things that others consider inferior. To each his own.
