I recapped a 6EY3A 45 player with Chassis RS-152A today and now I have no sound.
Rechecked the two electrolytics and the rest of the caps to make sure leads were soldered correctly.
I checked the speaker with another amp and it is working ok.
Even put in tubes from a player that was working properly and still no sound.

Any ideas as to what it may be?

Thanks
John

If I had it on my bench at the shop - I'd know.

We assume that the tubes light up.
You can test some basic things without much equipment.
Be sure that the mute switch contacts are clean and that it is making contact when in the "play" position.
Do you get a hum when you touch the "hot" lead from the cartridge? Touch it at both the cartridge end and the mute switch end in case the wire is bad.
If you hear a hum, you may have a bad cartridge.
If you do not hear a hum, check both the primary and secondary sides of the output transformer for continuity.

This player does not have the mute switches. I took the cartridge out and am waiting for a new one from
Gary @ VM.

When I touch the red wire no sound. I even tried the input lead at the volume control and still no sound
both of the tubes light up and even tried ones I know are good from another 45 player.

I have recapped these 45 players before and this is the first one that did not have sound.

This player did have a hum before I started to see if the motor worked.

Thanks
John

Time to measure some DC voltages. You can start with the plate, grid, screen and cathode of the 25L6. That may show up the problem right away.

Make sure your negative meter lead is connected to B-, which is the negative leads of the electrolytic capacitors, not the chassis on this set.

Thanks for all your help, but I decided to convert this player to battery operation to use at "Car Shows" this
summer. I ordered the "kit" from Chris Cuff and should arrive this week.

Thanks Again guys! :D
