Detrola built at least one model of battery operated farm radio-phono around 1940, that had a windup phono motor but a crystal cartridge that played records through the radio's audio stages. It was also sold under the Silvertone name and probably at least several other brands.

I also had a wind-up portable reel to reel tape recorder from the late 40's or early 50's with a battery powered amplifier, I was told it was used for news reporting but it was a really heavy unit with a flywheel that bolted down on top of the capstan for speed smoothness.
