This is my first restoration project. I have two units. I butchered the arm of one unit trying to wire a modern stereo cartridge into it. This failed miserably. If anyone has any information on where I can get a replacement needle and/or cartridge, please help me out. I replaced all bad capacitors and radio works great. The way the tuning mechanism is set up is a bit outlandish, but it was fun figuring it out. Anyone with any helpful information on how I could get this up and running and or where I can find replacement parts, please contact me at: ksweet@umail.iu.edu. A million thanks.

As for the cartridge, which is no longer made, contact Gary at http://thevoiceofmusic.com/ he should have a suitable replacement.

Good luck on your restoration.

Thanks so much for your help I was informed by an ebay user that it may be a Webster cartridge... Just a cartridge and a stylus and my restoration will be complete!!

baos,

Some RCA data I have indicates your RCA numbers are cartridge 70338 and needle 72345. The cartridge can be rebuilt. But these old crystal cartridges and me don't get along too well. I don't know a suitable replacement and if Gary can offer one that's easier on records that's great. But maybe the RCA numbers can help in your search if you don't have. Here's a link to SAMS 38-17 for the 77U.
