Bob,

Thanks for showing the detail of what you're doing. You do amazing work. It'll be interesting to see how it all goes together and sounds.

Tom

Hello Again!
At my wife's request, I built a Motorola with her color choice in mind.
With Fall right around the corner, I think that inspired her, which inspired me!
It started life as a Motorola SH-22 in faded gold.
I replaced all the components with some Motorola SP-29 components I had.
Of course, I had to take it outside and entertain the neighbors again!
They loved it!
Please enjoy some of Bill Justis's classic movie themes from the 60's!

Bob,

That looks beautiful! I wish you'd do a You Tube restoration video on one of these beasts.

Did you recover this Motorola with new vinyl of your wife's favorite color or did you paint it?

Looks wonderful!

Tom

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the compliments!
On this one, I carefully masked off the areas I didn't want color and sprayed a flexible vinyl marine paint.
The original finish was faded and stained, so, I could not preserve or save it.

Hi Bob,
Where do you purchase this paint that you speak of? I have a couple of phonographs that could use a makeover. Nice work on your restoration's!
Thanks,
Tony

It is electric and has an option for a radio, so it kind of has it's feet in both worlds. It's hard to believe how fast the technology was changing in those years, and that this thing came out in 1927. Must have seemed quite remarkable to the folks looking at it 90 years ago now. This is a video of it playing. It really has nice sound and is maybe kind of slow about changing records by out way of thinking, but it does a nice job and the only record I've broken with it, is one I dropped...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7jSCBbgW6k

I only have a few phonographs-powered by nickels, though.
