Watched an episode Sun PM from 2010 which was probably originally just on last week. Guy brings in a Royal 3000 and wants 80 bucks for it. Rick tunes in a station and say's: "OK, 80 bucks" and buys it. Was in decent shape. Figured he'd try to lowball him a bit. Chum Lee said" never take the first offer" which was probably Ricks "rule of thumb".

Yup, I saw that too.

80 is a fair price, and it was in good shape. Maybe he was taken off guard, since the seller didn't want a price in the 4 or 5 digit range.

I didn't know pawn shops would take radios.....there has to be 12 or so in my neighborhood

Pawn Stars is a bit different. First off, it's a reality show, so I'm sure they get funding from the show's producers which allows them to do "interesting" things that they'd be uninterested in or consider too risky in the normal course of events. Also, the shop profiled in the show is less like a normal pawn shop and really more like a high-end antique store that also happens to let you pawn things.

They get $25,000 an episode and they are prompted by script writers. Typical old man always right and the kids play the 3 stooges roles. Notice how they always have an expert for anything just down the road. People are interviewed before bringing their items in the store. The partipants are flown in if they have a interesting item.
Look at all the people in his store when he advertises the shop, all staged.
Orange County Cycle is exactly the same show. Bully father and dumb kids.

Thankfully the motorcycle show imploded.
Can only telecast so many episodes with the same script.

And that two-wheel-drive motorcycle Rokon Trailbreaker was interesting. I had never seen one before and I really would not have been interested. Now, one week or so after watching the show I am at a restaurant in Rexburg, ID. I am walking to the door and what is in a pickup truck on the parking lot? One of those things! From never, never seeing one, now I see two in two weeks.

I love the show. Wish they would have gotten into a little more detail on what to look for in a ZTO Royal 3000. The chrome trim on these tends to pit badly. The one they had looked pretty good, making it worth more. They also should have looked inside to see if the battery box was corroded, and checked all the the bands.

Maybe they'll get a 7G605 on there some day!
Just keep Chumly away from it...

I love that show also but missed the episode. Poop. Rick and Chumley are the fall guys. I like Gramps, he reminds me of me. (crotchety old fart).

I would rather watch that show then Apprentice or the other shows where all the yuppies are trying to stab each other in the back for that all mighty dollar.
