Forum rules
The following requirements must be followed when advertising personal antique radio / TV / audio / phono items (such as discussed in the forums here) for sale in the classifieds forum::
- Titles must START with : FS (for sale) or WTB (want to buy) or Trade or Free at the beginning of the title..
- FS posts must have an "asking" price and offers may be sent by PM. Are you parting something out? ... price each major part (not things like screws and nuts)
- There must be a location somewhere in the ad or the members profile (City & State or Zip Code are the minimum requirement).
- Ads are limited to two per day, and may not be bumped sooner than 7 days after the last post to the thread.
- No outside sales links are allowed other than to pictures of actual items being sold. No links allowed to eBay, Craigslist etc.
- This is NOT a discussion forum. If you're not buying or supplying or suggesting a relevant solution, don't post - send a Private Message. Comments on pricing will be deleted.
- First to post to an item for sale stating "I WILL TAKE IT" it is first in line. Subsequent claims will be followed in the order they are posted. Claims to "Take it" can be conditional on unknowns such as shipping costs.
- Any "PM sent" posts without posting a reason for the PM will be deleted as they are meaningless to anyone else reading the thread.
- Once a deal is made, edit the title to say so and the thread will be locked
If your thread or post disappears - read the rules again - no warnings or explanations will be given when threads or posts are deleted.

Larry, I believe Bill is looking for the cart only that his machine came with. I didn't see a cart in your link either.

Bill-
Radio's Master catalog for 1951 and 1959 both show the TR-16 in several versions, but there is no mention of carts on the Newcomb pages. Is it possible that your school's TR-16 was mated with a generic A/V cart from some other maker ?

Well, if it was, it was a darned good mate. And, there was another machine just like it in the gymn class that had exactly the same cart.
I suspect Newcomb didn't make these carts.
Likely some sort of a company that sold AV furniture.
My school also had a 21" BW tv on a similar, though larger stand.
Also, the sound projector used a similarly designed cart with a top that could be tilted up for adjustment.
These tell me the carts must have been made, and, sold by some AV furnishings company of some sort.

Indeed, that's just what I think happenned.
May I see some pix of the TR-16's in your catalog?
Is there any chance you'd sell the book?

********As a former teacher I looked at carts in school supply catalogs for years----all sizes and # of shelves. That's probably what you remember.

Sounds like it. Wish I could find one of the elusive carts. I actually need two. One for my ten watt, and, one for one of my 25 watt units. Those suckers are heavy!
Can anybody help me find at least one original one?
Many thanks.

Bill,
Just a thought and probably a dumb one. A friend had a old coin counter or sorter machine. It was heavy! I found him a very heavy duty metal typewriter table with wheels. It rolled easily and is still standing very nicely. I paid little for it at a old thrift store.
That would be kind of low for the Newcomb, as I remember from school but just a thought?

Sorry, but, also too small. Newcomb is quite a bit larger. Thanks, anyway.

Bill, have you checked eBay?
I just bought a heavy-duty 2-shelf used AV cart for the shop's 19 inch Sharp CRT TV. A lot of companies deal with school and college surplus furniture and dump it cheap.
