Check it out, at least 100X what a nice one might
be worth, and this one is burned up, check
the very dark brown color of the glass.
Besides everything else, it would be nearly
impossible to ship it without it being broken.
Originally these tubes were shipped in a giant
crate in the vertical position so there's no stress
on the metal to glass connection.

Here's a photo of the one in my collection,

Yes, the transmitter would have had 4 of them.
Until this one popped up on ebay no one with the
station knew what happened to the rest of them.

if someone actually pays that then the seller should have a protective crate constructed and hand deliver it.

This tube finally sold for $800.
A tube collector friend of mine bought it, I picked it up from the seller and
held it until the Charlotte meet this year.
I sure was glad when I finally got it delivered and off my hands,
I was scared to death it would get broken while I was moving it around.
The only one of these I've ever seen was broken into about a thousand pieces
by a shipper and poor packing.

What is the tube anyway? A VHF transmitter tube? The "pipe" reminds me of a klyston repeller or some sort tuned resonant plate.

It's a 100,000 watt water cooled power output tube from the mid 1930s.
Here's a page with photos of mine,
