I am looking for recordings of old Shortwave Broadcasts, and I'm having a very hard time finding much of anything at all. I used to love listening to these when I was young, especially during the cold war.
I would just love to find some full length old Radio Moscow, Deutshe Welle, or just plain good ole BBC World Service programs.
I've spent quite a while searching the web, usenet, etc. all to no avail.

Bob,
Yes! That's exactly what I was looking for. I used to love listening to CRI. Now if only there were the same sort of archives for other international stations.
Thank you,
Garret

Thanks for the link. That's a pretty nice book for free download.
What I'm really looking for though is recordings of old Shortwave broadcasts. For instance when Radio Moscow announced they had shot down KAL 007, or invaded afghanistan, or put a man in space etc.
Thanks again for the help.

Have got to learn to read!
I've heard what you are after but have no knowledge that anyone has made a recorded collection of same.

Garret, I may still have some recordings on cassettes of material like that. I'll dig into my box and see what I still have and get back to you.

Thanks. The funny thing is that back in the early 70's I used to record some radio programs on my father's tape recorder, and then when I got a cassette tape recorder I recorded a bunch more. Problem is that 90% of what I recorded was CBS Radio Mystery Theater, thinking that it would be impossible to find in the future!

No problem. Actually, I guess I didn't make it too clear that I was looking for recordings. Thanks anyway, that download is interesting.

Garret, I found the box with my cassettes in it and I'll try and see what all is in there sometime this weekend and try and get back to you early in the week.
Cheers, Bob

This page with links to WNYW (Radio New York Worldwide) and Radio Sweden audio is still up. I listened to both in the 60s. Radio Sweden had a pop music show on Sunday afternoons NA Eastern time, and WNYW had a countdown show on Saturday mornings. Full service SW broadcasting from the US; breaks yer heart to hear what it's become (WYFR). http://www.ibcworks.net/radio68.htm
