Note the cut glass on top-That's a good sign of the cabinet's condition. Wish I was closer to pick this up in person.

I had a 10" 1940's table top set once with an RCA chassis and it weighed at least 100 lbs.

Are you saying that it weighs less than 70 pounds or more? My money would be on at least 70 pounds...

It had a new CRT installed by RCA in June of 1950! Either they watched TV 24/7 or it had a defect.

Way more than 70 lbs, probably more than 100.

I agree that it is more likely to weigh well over 100, that piece of 1/4" plate glass has to weigh several pounds by itself, and I seriously doubt the loose piece of glass would survive shipping.

If anyone has the RCA factory service data, sometimes they gave the weight on the front page along with the dimensions.

Though not a particularly sought after RCA set, the fine condition it's in makes it very appealing. The tabletop sets of this era, as stated earlier, are about 85+ pounds. This set must weigh in the 125lbs. area.

I have the table model version. RCA says my set is 85 pounds.
I believe that console is closer to 120lbs.
Definately not seventy!
It's a 1948 model, to 1949.

UPS is never going to ship that. It's too big and heavy. But if you live near enough to make a pickup, you should probably go for it. I have a similar one that's been run for at least five hours each weekend in the Radio Technology Museum (http://www.infoage.org/exhibits/radio-technology-museum) at InfoAge (http://www.InfoAge.org) for the past five years. It's the only set that has never pooped out on us in that time. Of the 10" late forties console sets, I think that's one of the nicest styles!

I don't know about UPS, but I just checked my FedEx guide and 70lbs is the maximum weight for package shipments. After that, it goes to freight, at a much higher cost.

I suspect that wishful thinking is about right.

I have a 16" version of that set, same chassis with the radio.
It's a very well built chassis, more like the 630TS and not at all like the cheaper KCS47 chassis, it puts out a razor sharp image on the 16AP4 tube.
