Something special? If you mean like some (most) of your radios, no.

However it is a very nice set at a very good price. Restored, it would perform as good as anything in it's age bracket.

Chassis is nothing special, but, cabinet is very nice. I'd go for it.

"You ain't been over there and bought it yet?" Seriously, even if you don't want it, it should go into the hands of someone who will appreciate it and not turn it into a "Kegerator".

How much room do you have?

It's nothing exciting from a collecting standpoint. For TV collectors, most B/W 1950s TVs in plain wooden console cabinet are like most "All American Five" radios in plain brown Bakelite cabinets.

Nothing wrong with 'em, and they may work fine after restoration, but there are much more interesting fish in the sea.

If this will be your one and only TV, I'd let someone else rescue it and wait for something more notable. You should have no problem finding comparable (also boring) 1950s consoles in the $100-or-less range, so this is not the last one you'll see. With some patience, you may find a TV that's more in line with the nicer radios in your collection.

Thank you for all the replies. A good range of opinions which is what I wanted to see.

I really don't have room for another period TV. Unless something really special comes along, I think I'll stick with the one I recently got, an RCA Berkshire Regency which has the 15" x 20" projection TV and see about getting it restored to playing condition.

All my spare parts for it showed up last week thanks to forum member Joe who picked them up for me and he thought my TV's back side looked pretty good when we looked under the hood of it.
