Does anyone know where I can find an inexpensive solidstate phono pre-amp? You used to be able to buy these at Trash Shack, but not any more. I had one years ago on my Neat turntable because the cartridge didn't put out enough level to make it drive the amp at any kind of listenable volume.
Thanks for your help.

i'd try either the auction site, or find a schematic online and build one from scratch.

Thanks for your help. Ron, Gary Stork sells one cheap on his Voice of Music website. I've used them. It's in "phono accessories". Although, you might need to replace the filter caps with larger sizes due to a hum issue in some.

I find them used for as little as $1 but I was on the look-out. They sound great and I've even pulled the PC board out of them, cut the board in half and made two battery operated mono pre-amps for use with line operated phono amps. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Phono-Pream ... 3cb50f01de

I have a 25-30 year old, new in box, made by Olson, solid state one. If interested, $15 shipped.

Amazon has a good selection of them. I bought a Behringer for about $20 including shipping. Op-amp based and very quiet. These add on pre's have been around forever, but I've found the older ones based on 2 transistor circuits to be noisy and have weak output-especially the ones using germanium transistors.

It's AC power and stereo. Olson model AM-368, made in Hong Kong. Paper work with it is dated 1972.

It looks like new, never been used. But don't know if it works. I can send it to you and you can try it out, if you want.
