. Published in late 1922 or early 1923, this Radio Atlas features advertising on it's cover for two local (Fort Smith Arkansas) members of the media. Note in particular at the bottom of the page is reference to WGAR Radio in Fort Smith. WGAR was the second radio broadcasting venture here and the first to attain anything approaching commercial success or secure a sizable listening audience. First Licensed on June 30th of 1922, WGAR broadcast on 833 kilocycles and was the property of the Southwest American Newspaper of Fort Smith. .

. Perhaps one of my most favorite advertising pieces is this small, tri-fold mailout from the GraDerGood Company in Denver, advertising the Eight-In-Line Superhet. Fortunately, this was tucked down inside my Eight-In-Line superhet when I purchased the receiver. Opened, the little pamphlet contains a fair amount of useful information for the prospective purchaser: Though they may not qualify as advertising, some of my favorite pieces are a couple of late 20s Service manuals for Columbia and Continental radio manufacturers. This service manual from Columbia for the "Screen Grid 8" receivers is a thing of beauty. High quality stock, great clear printing, lots of photographs and drawings, and enough genuinely useful information to tackle the toughest repair job" I am very proud of my service manual for the Continental "Sky Raider" sets, having obtained it from a engineer that worked for the Co. in Fort Wayne Indiana. This service book is equally impressive in it's construction, materials, photographs & illustrations, and additionally includes photos and some service information for some of the company's previous "Slagle" line of receivers. I aquired this to go with my Continental RP-40 "Star Raider" console. And a look at the signature of Ben Thompson, Slagle/Continental Draftsman/Engineer, the previous owner of this wonderful piece. .

Never found much about this. It's a mirror and a little hard to photograph.

Rickey: Those are neat and probably made in the 60's, 70's, or 80's. Mine was a flea market find. About the only piece I have that is in our immediate living area and well deserved so..

These are the last stock certificates I am putting on. I imagine you guys are tired of them. James Millen was a well known mechanical engineer and officer with the National Company. These are from his own company, owned by him and signed by him as he was the company president. This is the check by which he joined AWA. I don't recall ever seeing him there. however. I'll get back on the subject of this thread next week!

Its not for radios but it for TVs, its a sylvania banner. Thanks to Radiopup for it. The banner is almost 8 feet tall.It was in rough shape and has holes in it. Here it is hanging up. I had a plastic surround from a old TV that was long gone due to moisture. I had it for 25+ years and saved it. It is from a crosley TV but it is perfect for it. I made a shadow box out of the plastic surround and placed the Sylvanina inside to protect it. I really like it and how it turned out. Anyway its a good holder for the banner. I have collected old radio stuff since the early 80s and I wish I had asked the old TV shop owners for advertising. Oh well we live and learn, I am looking for some now to make up for lost time. Anyway here is the banner in its box.
