Hey guys, getting ready to re cap my Fisher 61 amp and I'm in having trouble finding a Sam's schematic for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Are you sure of the model number - 61? If so, Sam's apparently never covered that one.

To be completely honest I'm not. The second digit of the model number is almost completely worn off but as best I can tell it is a 1. Ill post some pics tonight after work, hopefully that will shed some light.

If so, I don't believe Sam's covered them. You may want to ask over at AudioKarma to see if anyone there might have the original factory literature.

Looks more like 67 to me. It's not in Sams.

AFAIK Fisher never made a 67. Looks like the font matches the other 1's on the tag.

It's out of a really well built customized console I picked up for $10 but my guess is thast its not original to whatever that cabinet started out as. I've ruled out the possibility of it being a 610 after finding some pics of a couple 610's after a Google search. The mystery continues for now.

As for recap, schematics are nice to have but don't let that slow you down. Just do one at a time and take pictures. Digital cameras are very convenient. Also check any carbon comp resistor tolerances, particularly high value ones. Grid bias resistors are critical so give them a peek too.

Model 610 was the replacement for the 61 - I would expect them to be similar. Looks like the 5U4 was replaced by 6CA4 and the 6SC7 was replaced by 12AX7. Can't tell if the rest of the tubes are the same...

I'd like to have a schematic but as that may be very difficult I guess I should just address the actual problem. When I bought this I was told it worked and when I got it home I tried it out watching it very closely. It worked fine for about 10 minutes when the 5u4 started to redplate. I unplugged it I
immediately and now it redplates as soon as its plugged in. I've been told that the can caps are the cause and I'm up for the task if replacing them but as I'm new to this I need some guidance.

Please do not give up on this one, it's in marvelous condition. You will be wanting to replace all the filter capacitor components and all the wax paper capacitors before attempting to power on again. It's not rocket science, but does require a little discipline (actually a lot,) and will take some time, maybe months before you get another peep out of it. Restored, it will probably play for another 50 years or the death oa AM, whichever comes first.

I'm nit one to give up easily, and I love seeing anything old that's in good working condition. I've got a go.od bit of technical experience, I just have no experience with tube amps. I got lucky with my Maggie console and everything worked well (another $10 find ). Thanks for all your help and I'll keep everyone posted on how its going

Hello, new here (and to old radios)

I just ran across this, and seeing as these posts where less than a month old I was wondering if anyone has came across more information, particularly a schematic.

I recently bought a fisher 61 series console, described as 'until recently working'. It was in the original console, which I've already mostly disassembled for cleaning and possible re-finishing. I've already discovered one problem - one of the tubes is definitely bad (glass has a fracture, seems to be from rough handling where the metal protector came off and smashed into it. I intend to replace the capacitors before doing anything else, but as I have never worked on any 'pre-ciruct-board' electronics I am afraid to just dive into the rats nest in the chassis without a good chance of getting everything back in the right place. A schematic would certainly be helpful, either as a download or a physical copy to order.
