Any suggestions as to a good paint/technique to use... or should I just leave it as is?

I wouldn't repaint it,it looks pretty good.
I had a similar grill and cleaned the crud off with a pencil eraser.

Leave it as it is. I see the worn places, but it really doesn't look bad.

If it was a lot worse, the best way would be to mask the grille off. Set a couple of hours aside for that task. Time consuming to get it 100% masked right. Even then you'd have to carefully spray on the paint. An airbrush would be ideal. A spray can might load it up too much at once.
I don't think it would look all that great either with a spray can. Painting would be a last resort thing to do.

JMO- YMMV

Yeah, maybe it's not as worse that what it appears to be. I think I was looking for suggestions had it been really worse. How would I best repair those worn spots had they been deeper.

I already washed the cabinet. Those dark areas are where the paint has worn a bit thin.

Okay, I was looking at the area around the dimple for the knob, and I saw some dust there, I think.

A few more. That dust was eventually cleaned (missed the first scrubbing).

It 's fine, leave it like that.

I based my observations on the way I do things....I get ahead of my self, and miss things.

But what if he wants to sell it on Ebay, as a shiney radio that brings-in 5x the actual value?! Paint that thing up, all of it! You'll make a bundle!
