Picked this up today thinking it was some old no name guitar amp that I could tinker with when I didn't have anything else to do. Apparently it was a player/recorder and the phono half is missing. Anyone have any info on this thing? I found this : http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/sound_mb7e3.html . I'd like to find the other half but I'm not holding my breath.

Looking at the tube numbers, I'd say this was a portable PA system/phonograph that was used by the Armed Forces. I'd say it's from the late '40's.

Id certainly restore it get the amp up and running, then hunt round for a turntable.
If as said its 1940s then any 78 only player would do or you could get a collaro deck, they did them in gold, then it could play 33 and 45s.
just an idea, but i do like the way it looks.
