found an H-902 dirt cheap not working just the way I like them. looks excellent. no sound except for teeny-tiny barely . touching electrolytic across a few no change. replace a couple anyway. now no teeny-tiny. uh-oh. start checking power, continuity. no ohm reading OT primary except for CT to one side. just flickering OL on the meter across the other sides. jumpering another OT across the original and voila. is working. the replacement is a little fat from Radio Shack that I have. maybe a re-solder job might get lucky. anyway I am hooked on pocket transistor sets. just need to find some good parts suppliers

removed the output audio transformer to test. open primary. looking around I am not finding anything yet. it is red in color and the only thing written on it is P-58. looks to be CT primary and two wire secondary PCB mount to 8 ohm speaker. anyone out there in transistor land know where I could find such a thing. much obliged

I *think* I've got the schematic for that guy. When I get home I'll check. AFA the output transformer, I might be able to dig up a replacement out of an old transistor radio. However, I'm not sure if the impedance ratio is correct, but I can send you one if you wish. ~ Mitch ~ BTW, yours is nearly the identical radio in Mal Fuller's thread: "Help Needed" http://www.antiqueradios.com/forums/vie ... 4&t=167722

The cheapest parts suppliers -except for Electrolytics, which you want brand new, are other -not especially valuable- Transistor sets.

fantastic. thanks to you and Ed. great print. can see CT to 8 ohm like I thought. primary should be about 1K I guess. new to transistor radio so I am guessing some stuff. the radio works fine with Radio Shack AF transformer but its way too big. no way to close the case

got it working. found an AF output transformer at Mouser 42TL013-RC 1K/8ohm. exact same size. should have been 800ohm primary but is working fine

Doubt you'll ever hear the difference between a 1k/8ohm to a 800/8ohm. That's a deviation of 20%, which is about the same tolerance on most resistors. no biggie. ~ Mitch ~
