I am trying to distinguish which wire is the Orange and Red on a multi value Philco cap number 30-2575-50 from my model 1753 record player console.

Both wires look kind of orange. So I can't decide for sure which is which. I don't have a schematic so have no alternative method to find which wire is correct to replace this cap with individual caps.

Orange is 425 MFD
Red is 50MFD
Blue is 20 MFD
Yellow is 50MFD
Black is common.
I can see the blue, black and yellow.

I think number 2 is the Orange and red #1? But the red would have to be really faded!

Can anyone else make out these faded colors?

Update: I was able to find the schematic on line and can now find where each separate cap is supposed to go in the set. However I may as well leave this up for reference.
This cap was in pretty bad condition. All four internal caps had failed completely. The end is bulged out and surface bubbles all over. Nasty!
No wonder the previous owner of the phonograph said it was a noisy set.....

These caps are always "dead." If you get an old radio or anything with this sort of cap in it, replace it before you turn the set on. Actually any old electrolytic, dry or not, has to go. Always replace these with all the wax caps too. If you don't, the radio is going to fail in short order, and burn out more valuable components. (like the power transformer) It's easy to locate where the different sections go in an electrolytic. The 425uF would have been a low Voltage capacitor, so it may be a cathode bypass or other low voltage filter. Good luck with your Philco!

Oh Ya, by the looks of the Voltages on that cap in your picture, your Philco is most likely a series set.(No power transformer in that one) The rectifier tube is extremely sensitive to over current situations, much like the 35W4 0r 35Z5. It's quite common to blow the cathode strip off these tubes, rendering them useless, If the "multi" filter cap isn't changed.

Exactly correct. I managed to find the schematic and it is indeed a series set.

All electrolytic caps replaced and working fine.
