 Post subject: atwater kent 55 power tubes

i have ak 55 with one power tube missing,the other one is radiotron ca 71-a
the plate on the chassis says i should have two ux 271a. where would i begin to look for a match or other compatible tubes? trying to restore the old beauty.thanks

271a and 71a are the same tube,just different envelope.
You can post a want to buy in the classified,I'm sure someone will have some for sale.

Hi John

Agree with Phil but are you sure it's Model 55? All the Model 55s that I've seen use #45 tubes for output. These have 2.5 volt filaments rather than 5 used for 71A's.

I agree. could it be a AK45 or 47?

If it is the correct tube the radio will work with only one, though not as well, and it might hum more than it would with both installed.
