Group, I need some help identifying the value of this electrolytic from a phonograph so I can get a replacement for it. It is in a Webster Electric Co, Racine Wisconsin phonograph that I have not been able to find a schematic or any other documentation on. That is in another thread under phonograph here; viewtopic.php?f=9&t=159790&p=1580338#p1580338Here is a picture of the electrolytic it is large at about 4 inches long and about one inch across. The last picture I put a mirror under it and flipped the picture so you can read what it says on the bottom side, unfortunately it did not have a value there like I had hoped.

I assume this is a 2-section cap? Has 3 wires?
If so, then it's 12 mfd and 16 mfd at 200 volts.

Rich,
Yes, it is 3 wires, thanks for answering this newbie's question. I see now just how easy it is to see that! I did not understand how it was numbered But glad I asked too.
Now another newbie question. the three wires are red, black, and green, I know one would be common negative (black). but without a schematic or capacitor tester except a regular multi-meter how do I know which lead is positive for 12 and which is positive for 16 when I put in 2 new ones? I am assuming black to be negative since it goes to a small transformer. The red and green ones go to two points on a coil.
Or is there no way to know without the schematic and or tester? I have searched and not been able to find a reference for a schematic anywhere on nostolgiaair or in a general search of the internet. it is a Webster Electric Co. Racine Washington model number x75-3-1
Thanks. Tom B.

It's intuitive that black is the negative lead.
AFA the two positives, modern values go 10 mfd and then jump to 22 mfd. Since you don't want to go lower, simply replace with two 22 mfd units. If you can't find 200 WVDC, use 450. Do NOT use 160.

Thanks, That makes sense, the values are close and that certainly solves the problem of needing to know which is which. I buy my caps from Justradios.com and I see they have 15 uF 250 V ones and I think I will go with them, unless there would be any reason not too and get the 22 uF ones? Thanks again.

You can use either value, 15 or 22 Mfd. Personally however, I would go for the 22 Mfd units; a little more filtering might be beneficial.
