Seems like every week prices on ebay go up, but this is ridiculous,

This is not a selling price, just an asking price, so it's totally irrelevant where a discussion of radio prices is concerned. Also, I've seen more than one seller who asks a high price to discourage a cheap selling price, then sells behind the scenes to someone who contacts them and negotiates in private. Listing on eBay is the cheapest way to advertise globally that I've ever seen.

cheers

John

Just a confused seller who thinks he/she has posted it on Craigslist. This would help explain the ridiculously high asking price.

Insane lately.

If anyone's stupid enough to list a "set" for that much that just shows the sellers intelligence..

Are overseas buyers paying these prices?

lot's of those sellers on ebay, have several items I am watching and people have insane prices. One seller I like says he has inherited the items, but has a huge buy it now price on everything (some sells, others just keep getting relisted).

Another item I like is a small cedar tree stump puzzle box, seller had a BIN price of $90 before xmas, now it is listed at $125.

Sellers are not willing to see what the auction will yield, which is why they list at a ridiculous price.

Ebay is an incredible tool, just a remarkable way to sell things for the highest amount possible. Some "sellers" just don't understand how it works, though. Lesson one: start the bidding low and let it land where it may. If it only sells for $5, well, guess what: that is all it was ever worth. Move on to the next item.

Exactly. Well put.

Contact Seller: Hi. I see you have had a set out there for a few weeks now...

I personally have 7 auctions running right now and all started at $.99

Ocassionally I will start one at $9.99

If I was willing to sell it, I should be willing to sell it for what ever it gets. After all, I was selling it.

Lost a few $ on some items but made more on others.

Overall it is the best strategy, at least for me.

I try to sell with a starting price of break-even if I got some money invested. That way I cannot feel too bad if it does not sell, or only makes me what I started with. Otherwise I tend to start pretty low on stuff and watch people fight over it.

There are a lot of way overpriced consoles on ebay right now. One seller has a Magnavox "drum" end table stereo that they want $600 for. I tried to "educate" them; but, they got very PO'ed at me. They also have an el cheapo Zenith integrated stereo system, complete with a BSR "mini changer" for $600.

The thing that ticks me off is that people use these prices as a guide and they think theirs is worth that much. What someone is ASKING and what something actually SELLS for is two different things. And, even if something sold for a certain price, that does not mean you'll get that price when you sell an item. You could actually get more or you could get less. That's the whole reason I get ticked off when people use ebay for a price guide.

Using sold prices is ok as a "guide" but only from closed auctions.
