A friend of a friend contacted me about a '54 Stromberg-Carlson they'd like restored. This person is aware of the time and expense that goes into these monsters and is willing to commit. I haven't asked further questions about the kine or flyback, but it's a set they're living with so I'm making the assumption it's not burned to the ground.

I don't even have time to get to my own sets, so I'm looking for someone who's near Brooklyn, New York, and would be willing to take on the job. Since '54 SC's weight slightly less than a freight locomotive, a willingness to pick up would be a plus.

It's a little distance away, but I would highly recommend Vaughn Rudisill who's on LI in Deer Park (westen Suffolk County). He is only person I know locally that will take on vintage TV repairs. He's being doing repairs for many years. He can be reached at 631 667 5247.

I forgot about Vaughn! Good recommendation. I bought my 621 from him years ago. I'll forward his number, thanks. In the meantime, if someone has other ideas, please post.

You could touch base with Harry Poster in NJ...he doesn't fix them but would probably know someone who could. Just an idea - might not pan out.

What a coincidence! I bought a 621 from him too about 15 years ago! I don't collect TV's anymore, but it was great having Vaughn around to do repairs. I still deal with him with my radio collection.

Another good idea. Harry says on his website he does retro-fits but not (as you said) restoration, but it certainly couldn't hurt to ask.

Ha! That's roughly the same time frame I bought mine. Vaughn must've been rolling in them back then. :)

That's funny!
Even when I got mine, Vaughn had a blonde version available. He always seemed to have one around in those years. He still has one now with cool unusual period magnifyer mounted on the cabinet, but I believe it's his "keeper".
