That plating is called antique bronze.
Very nice shape.
That is not a DD reproducer. That is an after market 78 adaptor so you can play regular 78's on a DD machine...
Don't try to play DD records with it.It will destroy them.

The early (1912-1913) Diamond Disc product line had a number of machies with oxydised copper brightwork, of the sort that Edison had previously used on his Idelia, Opera, and Amberola cylinder phonographs. You have an early "Balance" lateral (std. 78) adaptor for one of these rather scarce A series phonographs. Note the unusual embossed aluminum diaphragm known as a Mobley diaphragm form the man who develped it for use in cylinder reproducers.

I suspect that you wuld find this to be a fairly valuable item.

Thanks for the info. My late brother-in-law collected phonographs and jukeboxes and I'm helping sell off all his treasures. I keep opening boxes and drawers and finding things I have never seen before. Glad I can count on the great people here to educate me.
