I recently was given a philco 48-1270 from a friend and am starting to take it apart. I noticed the stem is gone from the center of the platter. I would like to make one. I saw a photo of it and looks like its got a bend and a step to accept the records. Can someone confirm it has no moving parts in it.

The "Spindle" has no moving parts.
Here's a link to a partial service manual.
