This is not an ad, nor am I affiliated... just a heads-up and good news I believe. I've been in regular contact with Tom who sells the excellent high resolution scans of Rider Radio books on DVD. I've been after him to do hi-rez scans of the Rider TV books as well. And it looks like after almost a year, he's getting started on them:

Sent Date: Apr-10-12 06:29:58 PDT

We are actively working on the Riders TV volumes (27 volumes) now. 2 are done so far.

Best regards,
Tom KE3GK

I'll keep anyone and all interested in the loop as he progresses.

Mark

Will be interesting to see how they handle some of the huge fold-out schematics in Rider 1 and 2. I actually had to resort to a digital camera for those, and it is very hard to get a good image quality that way. On the other hand, if a big schematic gets cut into 4 or more pages that you have to piece together, that is also no good. Obviously they have a pretty big format scanner, since all the volumes from 3 onward are larger than letter sized pages.

Overall, this is great news. Probably means that those of us scanning for ETF should concentrate on the early (no copyright) Sams.

Agree - and focus on some of the factory service manuals that might not be complete in Riders.

Sometimes I scan in huge schematics in sections and stitch them up in photoshop. Turn them to "greyscale" in photoshop to lower the file size a bit. Even use "levels" in photoshop to clean up the contast. Pretty time consuming, and requires a methodical process.

Microsoft has a free program that stitches images together seamlessly.

Update May 29th:

Mark - We are half way thru the Riders TV sets - summer messes things up - always seem to be on vacation. I probably do have other TV factory manuals, I just have to look.

Thanks to Mark (Mbear) and his prodding, We have been scanning the Riders TV books.

Only a few more volumes to go and they will be done.

We do need a few pages if anyone has the paper copies. The ones we have are pretty well damaged.

If you can send us the paper copies, we will return in same condition and reimburse shipping $.

For the (blank?) pages in V12, I just need to verify that they’re really blank. If they’re not I need to borrow them.
