Hi Guys, I recently started restoring a Majestic model 20 clock radio. I’ve actually already gone through the radio (electronically) and it’s playing well now (a challenge for this radio!). My questions are regarding the clock in the top of the radio. The clock movement is wired in (attached with literal wires) and I think that it is a foregone conclusion that the clock movement and face have been replaced. My question is, what would the original clock movement and face have looked like for this radio? Would it have had glass over the face? It seems a bit strange that Majestic would have left the hands of the clock out in the open, however I don’t see any provisions for a glass panel. Is there any chance that anyone has a similar radio that they could post a picture of? I’ve attached a few pictures of this radio so you can see what it looks like. Thanks for your help, Zain

Hi Zain, I don't have a model 20 but I have a Majestic Model 17 grandfather clock radio which I haven't restored yet. Found the schematic in Beitmans.
I just took a look at the clock motor on mine and it's different from yours, however, I noticed that the AC wiring on mine has been spliced. Could be mine was replaced? The clock face has two words on it. "Majestic" and "Telectron" so I would assume the original was a Telectron.
Mine has a glass cover over the clock face. Perhaps long ago someone removed the glass for easy setting of the time. There is some glare in your photos but the scroll designs in the corners of your clock face appear to be the same as mine. Also mine has the time/hands set via a shaft with knurled knob through the top of the cabinet in front of the uppward facing speaker. The adjustment is hidden from view.
When I get to this set I'm going to have to get out my mini lathe and make two replacement knobs I'm missing. I'll take some photos tonight and post for you.

Wow, another cabinet style for the model 20! There are 3 different cabinets posted on radioatticarchives. Mine is like one of them. I've never seen this cabinet style before. http://www.radioatticarchives.com/archive.htm?page=m3#MajestThe clock face on mine has glass over it. Adjustment to the hands is made from the back. There is a frame on the inside of the cabinet to house the clock and clock face. I don't see any signs of one on yours though. Chris

Zain, here's what the clock face looks like on a Moel 17.

I also just started restoration of a Majestic 20, presently working on cabinet. Also being a clock collector, I wanted to get it working. I posted an message on the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors message board about how to take apart the movement for cleaning with some pictures of the face and the movement here. I measure about 900 ohms at the plug for the clock. Don't know if that's good or not. http://mb.nawcc.org/showthread.php?8647 ... c-20-clockThere is also a metal covering on the back of the movement that I didn't show. No replies yet. My clock has a glass cover over the face. The whole assembly comes out the back. Does anyone know if this is a Telechron like the 15? There is/was some sort of paper label on the cover, but it is either overheated or painted over and illegible.

I had the motor in my 20 rebuilt. I sent it to Dennis Kaye at http://dialrepair.com/. I was extremely pleased with the work that he did. As I put the radio together, I separated the power between the clock and radio. I have two plugs coming out of the back. If you would like pictures of the back side of the clock, let me know and I can get them to you. Chris

Is there more to the http://dialrepair.com web site? I couldn't pull it up. I have a clock that is in a wood ship base with chrome metal sails and would like to get it fixed.

Call Dennis Kaye at the numbers listed (1-888-363-9510) and talk to him, or email him at decay@dialrepair.com. He'll take good care of your clock repairs. Chris

I sold a Majestic 20 clock radio in 2010 that never had glass over the face.
