Any one have a schematic for an Aircastle 127 appears to have been made by Detrola. I could not find any at Nostalgia Air.

I believe that it was too early for Sams.
I did find a picture at Radio Attic and a 127E chassis at Radio Museum.
Can you post a complete tube line up?

Tubes 78 75 6A7 76 push pull 42 outputs unknown rectifier (It was broken. I am assuming it is an 80 as it is 4 pin) and an eye tube.

78 is likely wrong sub, should probably be a 6D6.

Look at the Truetone D723(1937), the Truetone D724(1938) and the Detrola 147E, all of which are in Rider and on Nostalgia Air. Detrola made quite a few different chassis that are basically the same except for the dial scale, you will find all of the schematics to be quite similar.

You will like the way this radio works after it is restored.

Wow! That's quite a schematic. It has an RF pre-selector, push-pull output, and a full wave rectifier with choke. Sweet.

This particular design by Detrola works exceptionally well when properly restored. Very sensitive and selective, good fidelity too with an 8" Rola speaker. One of the best performing sets they made, and sold under numerous brand names as both a table model and a console. Would have been nice had they used a larger speaker in the console though.

My late friend Phil was the manager of the coil winding department at Detrola and he told me that he went back and forth with the engineers, making one-off prototype coils for this circuit until they had it tweaked for the top performance they could get out of the chassis without having an RF stage. That preselector really makes a big difference over a set without one.

Yes, a very interesting and useful approach. I'm essentially doing the same thing with an external tuning box measuring 3.5 x 11.75 x 16.625 space wound with 77' of 24 gauge wire. In the photo, you can barely see the outline of the coil since it's covered with blue painter's tape. The space between turns is adjusted so the coil width is 2" and has a 365 uuF variable cap in parallel. This gives it a tuning range of 520 to 1710. You just place it on top of the radio and adjust for resonance. It often doubles or triples the signal strength and can be rotated to reduce static or an interfering station. It's ability to improve signal-to-noise ratio is amazing.
