I have got to stop keeping everything I restore as I am plum out of room,, Here are 3 in the living room and 1 has to go, Or I have to start stacking them But I am having a difficult time in picking which one needs a new home, I will state that it is really between the 12-U-158 and the 9-S-54, The 15U269 will be staying, Trouble is I love the 12Us giant dial and I love the 9Ss colorful dial ! If you could have two right now, Which two would you have? Wife says I should just keep them all ! I love her for that, But there are just too many ! Peter

Get some rope and pulleys and suspend them from the ceiling.

Based on appearance only, I would keep the left and middle--get rid of the right.

Get rid of that 9S54, it's sort of the runt of the litter. The other two Zeniths are great representatives of the classic Zenith that most people have come to know and recognize, large dials, large flamboyant cabinets, and large chassis. That 9S54 is nothing more then then just a meat and potatos economy radio compared to the other two. Also the finish and grill cloth on that 9S54 are all wrong. Yeah, get rid of it and while your on the subject of getting rid of radios, I would suggest getting rid of that Westinghouse radio, the one with the giant "melon head" cabinet, while your at it. It's unique in design but not very attractive. Those Westinghouses look kind of Frankinsteinish to me but some people do like them. Just my opinion. Here's a photo from ARF member Peter "pred" photobucket.

I voted for the 12-U-158. It takes up the most room and is the least attractive, in my opinion, although that ginormous dial is nice.

The one on the right with all that grille cloth . You could part it out and probably do good .

I'd keep the 9S54 and the 15U269.

If they were mine I would keep the 12U158 and the 15U269. However, should you decide to get rid of the 12U158 I might be interested.

Funny this Westinghouse was sold last year, It was a H-104,, When I found the one in the top Pic with no preset controls, H-103 I had to have it, These are great radios with PP output and a fantastic sound,

This doesn't answer your question but I agree with your wife. If they aren't affecting your physical or mental health, keep them all and stack 'em...unless you live in an active seismic zone. How many of us have sold something and then remorsefully spent years trying to find a replacement?

In the past 5 years I have had pretty much all the big dog collectable Zeniths pass through here (except a 1000Z) but I am only keeping one, a 15U-269. I suggest you should get rid of 2 of your 3 sets and just keep the 269. To me it has all the best that Zenith had to offer. Mine is a wonderful example, having been restored by the Gollers a year ago and plays wonderfully with stunning looks.

You dont see any of those everyday, but I would let the 9-S-54 go. Just turn the 3 of them around and look at the back. You will notice the difference!
