I have an old transistor radio that is inserted into a childs toy that I am trying to fix. Basically the radio works, but the on/off volume pot is broken. I think it is a 5K, but no matter where I search, I cannot find one of these!
Any ideas folks? Thanks!

I suspect you might have to post a picture of the defective one. I've seen a few 10K versions around, but the mechanical differences might be prohibitive. Are you talking about the really flat kind with the volume dial pressed right on the front without any shaft to speak of and kind of cheap looking switch on the back?

Would it be like the plastic housing on the left with almost no shaft, or the metal housing on the right with a shaft? Or something different?

Check this thread for a discussion on a source. There is a link I posted that may help.

Hmm, yes posting a picture would be best...if I could figure out how! It is not like the one in the picture. This is small, flat and has a timy female threaded lug that the know screws onto via a screw in the center of the knob. The one I have is severely hosed up, the on off portion doesn't even work. ..
