I just picked up a Ford F8TBO AM/FM radio. The radio is operational and works on both AM and FM selectors. But there are two niggling issues: The push button selectors do not function and the amber FM stereo light on the dial will not come on even though the radio is playing through both speakers on the bench.

While I know it is hard to diagnose these problems in the forums, what are some of the typical issues with these radios as far as the button function is concerned?

And I figure that the FM light might just be a bad bulb, but how do you get TO that bulb to test it?

Jeff

Just an FYI, it isn't necessary to open two threads to address questions on one radio.
Perhaps a moderator can merge these together. :)

Don't know how much electronic experience you have, but that schematic is available
in Sam's AR (Auto Radio) series, numbers AR-54 and AR-56. See here:

You can find the whole book for less:

A disclaimer - I am not associated with any of the above eBay sellers.
Perhaps a member here has a copy they could scan for you.

All that being said, it may be cheaper to have someone restore/realign the radio for you.

seems I recall that the button set was achieved while the radio was on station. pulling the push button-out then pushing it back-in set that button to that station
