Trying to polish a Bakelite radio and would like to know what kind of buffing pad to use. Got some help on what to use in cleaning and want to make it shine somewhat. Thanks for your advice.

I use the blue or white round pads typically sold for auto waxing.

Doesn't matter as long as it's not synthetic or wool. Those will likely scratch it; cotton won't.

Unless you have a large flat surface, you will be better off doing it by hand. A pad will not get into the small details or feature lines on a cabinet. Polishing over a feature line can wear them down and it will look bad.

If the cabinet is in a non weathered condition, it should not take much to bring up a gloss.

Don't forget the toothpicks, toothbrusies and sharpened sticks to get the polish out of the tiny corners and details.

Watching? What's she doing standing around when there's work to be done?
