I get that the 1L6 is expensive - is there a plug-in sub that functions, albeit more-poorly?

I would not want to abuse a 1L6 during service and testing.

A 1R5 will work sorta - won't get the higher freq. as well as a 1L6. And, one pin, I forget which one - needs removed.

DK 92 Works also. But not good at high frequency.
That is what I used while trouble shooting my TO

I do have a 1L6 that checks right on min acceptable on my TV7 Where 16 is min NOS tubes usually go 22
I ran it in my TO and had no problems . All Bands worked

As far as I know, the 1R5 does not need to be modified to work in the T/Os, but it does in SOME radios.

On the subject of TO tubes- I've got 2- 1U5's and 2- 1R5's - All NOS NIB tubes- the 1U5's are Zenith red box, one of the 1R5's is Zenith yellow box, and the other 1R5 is GE. I will let these go as a lot for $13 + $2 shipping.

The 1R5 does not need a pin cut in TO's. It does have to be cut in Hallicrafters and likely some others
