Managed to find some repro grille cloth for my Silvertone console. The original grille cloth was stretched and glued around the speaker mount board, and the speaker mount board was then screwed down inside the cabinet. The remains of the old cloth peeled off easily enough. What would be the best thing to use to attach the new grille cloth, and what is the best way to install it so it is flat and even? Are there any tutorials available online?

Well, here's what I do. I spritz the new cloth with water---not real wet but wet enough you can tell it's wet. I then spray the mount board with 3M spray adhesive. Wait a short time and make sure it is tacky. Then I carefully align one side of the cloth and on the back side of the board staple frequently. Then carefully pulling it gently crosswise, I staple it frequently on the other side of the board. You want to be sure you are stretching it equally from top to bottom so the pattern isn't skewed. (At first I used a dowel rod, wrapping the cloth and then tugging it snug but I found out that wasn't necessary.) Then I fold over the top and bottom, also tugging a little to keep it taut (but straight), and staple the "fold-overs." You want to check the "good side" more than once to see that the pattern is staying even-correct-lined up--how ever you want to term it. Press the damp cloth down to the adhesive side evenly and completely. After it dries, it will be nice and taut. Good luck.

You're welcome. I forgot something in the other post. If it's necessary to screw the speaker board to the cabinet through the cloth, be sure to make a hole in the cloth with a hot soldering iron point so the screw doesn't unravel the cloth.
