I am in the process of recapping an RCA 45EY1 with a chassis RS-132F.

I have the schematic from Beitmans and I know the values of the capacitors, but the schematic does not show the
voltages.

On the chassis itself, the electrolytic in the paper tube show 50 MFD @ 150 Volt and 80 MFD @ 150 volt.
No problem there. But the others must be Bumblebees with color coded markings only.

They are from the schematic:

.01 MFD
.0047 MFD
.018 MFD
.01 MFD

Can anyone help me with the voltages on these or how to read these markings?

I also know from searching the forum that the 120 Ohm wire reistor also needs replaced. I already have a 120 Ohm 10 Watt on hand will that work?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I have already completed the restoration of the changer (new idler and cartridge from Gary at VM and cleand & polished the bakelite cabinet

Thanks
John

Hi,

I'm working on a similar unit.

The .018 is 400V, the others are all 200V

I've never known RCA to use Bumblebee capacitors so they may be replacements.
The 120 ohm resistor is in series with the tube heaters. If the tubes light up and the resistor doesn’t look burnt, it’s still good. That doesn’t mean that it won’t open up tomorrow. To answer your question, yes the 10 watt resistor will work, it’s just overkill.

Here is a link to a Sprague Bumblebee capacitor color code chart.

Doug,
Thanks for the chart. I can now get all the caps changed. :D
