Most of us have an old computer cord or two stuck in a drawer. Today, I visited our flea market and there were several outlets selling female cord end receptacles for $1. Just cut off the female end of the cord and replace it with the new part. It makes a great inexpensive extension cord !!

You're absolutely right,I've been doing that for quite a while. There's always a pile of them free for the taking at our local waste transfer station(aka, town dump).I just rewired a commercial sewing machine for someone with old computer cords-worked great.

That's odd - they're rare as rocking horse manure, round our way. I know, because I was looking for several when we moved over here and it took forever to find them. I ended up putting a US plug on a UK power strip to tide us over.

And the females from abandoned computers and printers are also plentyful. I really like to retro fit them on vintage radios and guitar amps with some hope of saving a life down the road. That way the next owner would have to go be really unlucky or out of their way to expire.
