I want to buy a new stereo cart for my klh model 11 garrard changer. Most of the old stock stylist for it skip on newer records prob due to the rubber hardening on it and the newer production that fit it sound distorted on it.

I was thinking maybe trying this one? http://www.needledoctor.com/Stanton-520 ... tegory=381

Anyone else have any recommendations?

IINM the KLH 11 changer was AT6 which should be perfectly happy with Stanton 520 which is more rugged than it needs to be for that suspension. 2.5g otta do it, that's what I ran Shure M55 at in AT6.

The AT6 is fully counterbalanced. With the singleplay spindle and a tape-reel holddown keeping the record in place it will play at any angle (I've done it). You may already know, the AT6 trip pawl tends to sieze in its sleeve from deteriorating lube. IIRC the trip arm rides on a single ball bearing in a trough in the motorboard where dust can get to it. Those are the two big playability maintenance issues with AT6.

Gary at VM Enthusiasts has a Stanton cartridge you could use.

http://thevoiceofmusic.com/catalog/part_detail.asp?PNumberBase=500V3&SearchType=MfgNameCartridges&MfgName=Stanton&Categories=

You could save about $14.00

There are many styli available for the Pickering V-15 that this set should allready have. If you're getting too much output from the current styli made for the Stanton 400.V3 cartridge that's in current production, you could buy a Stanton 500 series stylus and trim the plastic at the top of the stylus holder if it won't fit in the arm.

I would also be inclined to check the turntable before condemning every Pickering stylus out there. Another question: does this particular KLH 11 actually have the AT6 turntable? Only the early ones did. Later ones weren't AT6 but a turntable made for KLH by Garrard designed to specifically use that particular Pickering cartridge.

....and nothing BUT that cartridge.

The few of us on here that own one of those Garrard 3000 series "custom made for" changers have no choice but to use the existing Pickering cartridge body.
As long as it's ok, it can be fitted with an N400 (used in the 400.v3) stylus for some "punch"

Set the tracking for 4 - 4.5 grams, and you're good to go.
