Looks very nice. I wouldn't pass one up.
I hope it's an easy restore.

It makes me want to touch it. I'll bet it looks cool fired up.

Haven't tried yet. Still need to check some things out. Here are some chassis photos for Bill. Looks to be a 110 crt. Lots o' dust too. One of the selling points was how thin the cabinet is.

Hey, if that halo light ever breaks and doesn't light up anymore, you could probably replace it with this:

It looks like the original CRT. I think that yellow sticker on the left of it is Sylvania.

Greg. Halo Lights are cool. Never seen one playing though.
When you get it recapped and working, post some pictures.

Anyone remember the marketing theme for the Halo Light TVs?

Hoffies, you are also wrong when it came out. I first saw the halo light introduced on "Beat the clock" about 1955. They gave away alot of Sylvania tv's as prizes.

Bill they came out with the Stratford model in late 1952 thru 54, had one. Narrow halo lite surround, set was bottom of the line. Lasted two years, lemon to say the least.
Here are some other models.

Beat the clock came on the air in 1951-1956.

HALOLIGHT could NOT be adapted for color TV, because color TV white balance (aka tracking from low to high brightness) was unpredictable. Since the white color temperature of the HALOLIGHT and the illuminated color screen could not be made equivalent, HALOLIGHT was withdrawn.

You believe what you want, hoffie. I saw the set. We used to complain that the light was brighter than the picture.
But, what do I know? I only watched the set.

I believe that one just sold in the Quad Cities about a week or so ago. Look at the thread below titled "first Sylvania color TV". About three replies down, I posted a photo of the set in question. Don't know if it's HL or not but looks like it sure could be.

I brought the set up on a variac last night. It is series string, but all tubes lit up and had audio. The flyback was singing pretty good so I better replace some caps before I do any damage.
