I have the schematic and even photos I took of the old stringing. I believe I have string routed properly but think there is not enough tension. It uses a round tension spring, not a usual spring. Maybe it is just old ? Any suggestions ?

The Sams has the restringing guide. PM your email address and I will scan it for you.

Thanks. I have the guide and think it is strung properly but it does not move properly. I think it has something to do with tension or the wraps around the knob that turns the whole thing ? Going to work on it some more when I get time

The Sams says 3 1/4 turns around the shaft. Considering the right angle turn, guide, pulley and two wheels that the dial cord has to traverse, I would suspect that the cord needs quite a bit of tension to keep from slipping. If that radio were mine I might even install another roller on the fixed guide to relieve some of the tress on the cord.
