Not mine but a friend's who is selling out. ok, Ill bite, what is a Park Ave? I believe this is the Majestic Park Avenue. Very nice Art Deco design, but really doesn't do much for me. In fact, I often wished the Strat didn't do anything for me. I didn't choose the Strat as my "Holy Grail" because everyone else wanted it. I chose it for technical reasons as well as I grew up with Zenith products and worked in Zenith sales and service for much of my working career. I've always been partial to the Lido by a wide margin: Symmetrical, finely detailed and lightly seasoned with some 'zigggurat'.

What I would realistically like to find are a De Wald K-701 Transistor set in green (I have one in Salmon), Regency TR-1G's in coral, and yellow, and an Automatic Radio Tom Thumb (or Firestone) TT-528 in yellow. I've seen at least one (and only one De Wald) of each on The Bay over the last 10 years, and they all went for multiples of what I thought was reasonable. Next time I see one, there will be a large bidders reserve...

"If we consider the title in it's truest sense of the meaning....Zenith Trans-Oceanic is the answer.

I hardly think so. The collector demand for TOs has plummeted recently. It's even hard to give them away.

Although 30s sets are sure alot cheaper than they used to be.

I don't believe big is better, some of the smaller table radio deco wood cabinets and dials outshine those wierd configuation consoles that are suppose to represent some building or occassion, designed by an idiot sitting at a drawing board that doesn't know what the average person is buying. I agree Zenith had the best curved cabinets from 1936-1939. Philco had nothing going with the small dial (1930's) stationary pointer which require a magnifing glass to see numbers. Nothing like seeing a pointer fly around the dial. RCA had good chassis's but mostly boring cabinets. This is the big three of radios designed for the blue collar worker. JMO

Most of the sets that I thought I wanted when I first started collecting are not my favorites now. After finding a few Scotts, M.S. VI, Philco 38-690, Capehart 406E flipper, Zenith 15U269 and a high end movie dial, the one I still and have always wanted is a Zenith 835. Strange that I have a hard time paying 4Gs for one though. regards, Bill http://billsradioden.shutterfly.com/

Wow, Bill, your Capehart 406E was sold by Lyon & Healy in Chicago? There is an interesting mention in this article by Martin Blankinship regarding Capeharts sold at Lyon & Healy. To quote G. E. Gustafson of Zenith. "I visited Lyon & Healy and looked at the Capehart, RCA, and Stromberg combination units. The salesman at Lyon & Healy told me that they had not sold very many of the $600.00 RCA combination, as they found it quite easy to sell the customer up to the $1,000 Capehart." http://www.hlara.org/info/Special%20Chr ... 202007.pdfIt is interesting the differences between the 406E you have and the 406D I have (one year earlier) Mine has two amplifiers, but 3 speakers (14" woofer and two small tweeters. I see they changed the pickup as well from the big bulky one mine has. Beautiful! -Steve

I am suprised that nobody mentioned any Marconi or Rogers radios. I have a few Marconies and I just got a rogers 10-12 .. The cabinets on these are very nice ,and in my opinion ,a lot better that any Zenith I have. Like most others, I started out buying everything that came my way ,but I have become more selective in the last few years. If I see a radio for sale and I like it ,,it is usually because of the looks ,,not what model it is. Thats what determines what I buy..

Try it now. I'm surprised Nick, with your expert Google skills, you didn't correct me with the right link? -Steve

Bob, Thanks but it's unlikely. Others do show up from time to time so keep your eyes peeled. It definitly is a great radio. If you're ever in the NY catskills, stop in for a demo. Bill
